The former Israeli Prime Minister known by his nickname Arik died Saturday morning January 11, 2014. Stroke was announced as a cause of death. He was sick for several years before his death. In 2006 he suffered a severe stroke which put him in a coma. He recently developed serious kidney problems during his coma. He is a very big figure in Israel’s history.
He became Israel’s 11th Prime Minister and served for 5 years. In 2006 he was replaced by Ehud Olmert. Political decision and political career Ariel Sharon has been controversial but effective. His efforts throughout his career proved Israel had the desire to move towards a peaceful resolution with many problems.
Sharon was active politically in 2005. One of the most significant legislators came right before the coma. He proposed a plan in 2004 which was then adopted by the government called unilateral release.
The agreement was put in place to eliminate all the Israelites from the Gaza Strip and move them on the North West Bank. The strip has become home to more than 8.5K Jewish settlers and more than 1.3 million Palestinians for 38 years but is controlled and regulated by Israel. But the strip has become the center of mass and violence due to disagreement between various religious groups. In an effort to reduce Ariel Sharon’s violence he made a proposal which was then adopted by the government in 2005. This came into effect only 10 days later.
Ariel Scheinermann was born on February 26, 1928 at Kfar Malaal, the Palestinian British mandate. His parents were Belarusian Jews who fled Russia during the Russian civil war. They have escaped from the persecution of Jews called Pogrom. Ariel was involved in the military at the age of 14 years. It is a mandatory program imposed by the government to prepare youth for services in the Israeli defense. Ariel first held a battle in 1947 in the Battle of Jerusalem. He fought in all the important wars in Israel and became commander in the 1973 and 1967 war. He took the authority from his military career to be political.
Ariel’s political career was founded in 1975 when he became an aide to Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. He had been chosen to the previous political office but resigned after being called to fight.
Sharon married twice. First in 1962 until Margalit Sharon and later became Lily Sharon in 2000. He has three Omri, Gilad and Four children.
